Balance Sheet Report

The Balance Sheet: asset, liability and (where the account's chart has one) owner's equity groups, each as a list of top-level accounts with their child rows in the order the report screen prints them.

Dates

date_from defaults to the date of the oldest journal and date_to to today, as on the report screen. The figures sum the journals dated inside the range; they are not balances brought forward from before date_from.

If the oldest journal of an account is zero-dated, the report screen's own default lower bound cannot be resolved and every figure on the screen is 0. This endpoint reproduces that, returns filters.date_from: null and a meta.warnings entry. Send date_from explicitly to get real figures.

Signs

Each group is signed as the screen prints it: credit groups (liabilities, equity) as credit minus debit, debit groups (assets) as debit minus credit.

Layout

Groups with the same column are printed one under the other. The last group of a column that has a combined_total carries the row printed under it (for example Total Liabilities & Owner's Equities), which adds the groups above it. There is no closing net row.

Blank and heading cells

A top-level row whose shows_value is false has no subtotal on the screen (displayed_value is null); value still carries the figure. A child row with is_heading: true is styled as a heading on the screen but still prints its figure.

Size ceiling

Above 20,000 rows the endpoint answers 400 instead of truncating, because a truncated statement would carry wrong totals. The default is per-deployment configuration.
